Moulin Rouge! Make-up Look

To recreate Nicole's exquisitely beautiful look as Satine, start of by applying a foundation, that's the closest match to your skin tone as possible, then get that glowing porcelain look by dusting your face with a light reflecting translucent powder.

For the eyes first gently line them with a black eye pencil, don't put it on to heavily. Use the pencil to define your brows as well and add length to the end for an extra glamorous look.

For Nicole'd look you might also want to apply some false lashes to the outer edges and some black liquid eyeliner to the top lash line.

Blend some charcoal grey eyeshadow gently around the eye for Nicole's smouldering, sultry look. Use some a light eyeshadow to high light just under your eyebrows at the arches. Finish with a few coats of black mascara.

Sweep a light rose colored blush up and along your cheekbones, don't apply it to the apples.

The lips are the key point of the look, they have to be classic red. First line your lips with a red lip pencil, then apply a matching red lipstick - apply with a lip brush, for more defined lips.

Moulin Rouge! Make-Up and Look Trivia

Blue lighting was used in many scenes, notably the scene when Satine first arrives on trapeze to perform "Diamonds".

Director Baz Luhrmann noticed that the blue light made Nicole's pale skin almost glow, setting her apart from the surrounding crowd even more.

One of the red lipsticks Nicole wore was said to be Clinique Different Lipstick, in Raspberry Glace - a shade with blue undetones to suit pale skin.
