A guide for one of Taylor's older looks with info from Teen
Vogue Magazine 2009 -
Celebrity makeup artists Tina Turnbow and Beau
Nelson, who have both worked with Taylor, gave Teen Vogue some tips on how
to get her make-up look -
Tina said that Taylor's daily beauty regimen "includes
many
Caudalie
skincare products, especially the
Foaming Cleanser
and
Cleansing Water
, and she sleeps with Lipfusion on, to moisturize her lips."
And finally, Beau suggests the following
products to get Taylor's look: "A great lip and cheek stain in a
vibrant pink or red. Black eyeliner and a smoky eye quad."
Beau says, "Taylor has gorgeous pale skin that doesn't
need a lot of makeup. Skin that pale can tend to be sensitive and prone to
redness, so we use concealer only where needed to even skin tone. I use
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in 0 and 2. I also use Kanebo
Sensai loose powder and MAC Mineralized Skin Finishes for sheen."
Everyone knows a bright lip is a staple in Taylor's makeup bag, and she "loves
wearing bright and deep shades. She particularly likes deep reds, vivid pinks
and bright neon colors such as Beaute Cosmetics Liqui-Gel Stain for
cheeks and lips in Fever, Harlot and Flouron (Fever is the red she loves, Harlot
is berry, and Flouron is neon pink)."
To re-create that edgy eye that Taylor always dons, Beau says, "Taylor hates to
look too 'done.' She likes her makeup to have a sort of lived in quality, so
blending is really important. Because we use such little foundation, if any, I
often do eyes first which allows us to clean up any fallout from the dark
shadows we like to use. I start by applying a black cream liner on a flat fine
brush between her lashes to make them look thick and lush. I then smudge a dark
cream shadow or liner around her lashes both top and bottom. Taylor loves it
when the shape of the shadow is blended to make her eyes look a bit rounder
rather than extending them like cat eyes. I use a small soft brush to apply a
matching powder shadow over the cream shadow to lock it in place. Often then I
apply a neutral shimmery shade all over the lid up to the crease at this point
but if it's an evening event we apply a medium or darker shade like gunmetal or
a dark brown. I finish by using a black kohl pencil on the inner rim of the eye
and then curling lashes and adding mascara."
Finally Tina adds, "Taylor is fearless with makeup! She's
also inspired by some cool ladies: Blondie, Joan Jett, and Goth beauty. She
makes it her own and doesn't care about rules!"
