Talking to Vogue Magazine in January 2010, Rachel
revealed she practices Kundalini Yoga. She does it every
morning, even when she's on set.
Kundalini is an ancient, spiritual form of yoga is about awakening
each of the seven chakras in the body, and works both physical and
mental aspects. Each Kundalini Yoga asana series is done in
conjunction with a specific breath that intensifies the effects of
the poses with the purpose of freeing energy in the lower body and
allowing it to move upwards. The sequences sometimes consist of
rapid, repetitive movements done with breath or holding a pose while
breathing in a particular way.
A Kundalini class begins with a short chant
followed by a warm-up to stretch the
spine and improve flexibility. The main work of the class is called
a kriya, which is a sequence of poses
Rachel told Vogue: "The earliest I'll start is
four-thirty - that's my limit."
Added to her daily dose of yoga, Rachel either
cycles or walks almost everywhere - two simple, yet great exercise
methods for the whole body.
