 Rita Hayworth Make-Up and Beauty

Rita Hayworth Make-Up Style

Trademark Look - Thin high brows, long fluttery lashes, powdered skin and red lips

Key Item - Red Lipstick, throughout her career from the '30s up until the '60s red lipstick stayed constant in Rita's otherwise changing looks.

A guide for recreating Rita's signature look

Rita's base looked quite matt but wasn't powdery, to get her look use a matt foundation but mix in just a little moisturiser - this well help get Rita's luminous look and stop your skin from feeling caked.

Rita's well groomed and arched brows heightened her the beauty of her features and served to frame her beautiful eyes. To get her look pluck your brows into a fine, arch and fill in any gaps with an eyebrow pencil to match.

Her eyes were never over done with bold colors or fancy eyeliner.  So to get Rita's look just keep the eye make-up simple, but for big occasions use false lashes. Rita almost always had long fluttery lashes for big events and photo shoots.

The lips are the key feature for Rita and red is the must have color if you want her look.  Bright red was usually Rita's shade, but if you don't think it will suit you take a look at the Max Factor ad, above, a dark red may be more flattering - and it'll help your teeth look whiter too.

On the cheeks you shouldn't need to much blush, just sweep on a little terracotta colored blush. Make sure to use the biggest brush you can find, that way you'll end up with a more natural look.

Make-Up and Beauty Facts and Trivia

Rita's favourite feature was her hands; they were naturally elegant and slim but she heightened the look with her nails, which she kept long and sleek, giving her hands an even longer illusion.

Had her hairline raised using electrolysis in her early career.

She appeared in various ads for Max Factor, check out the gallery of them below -
