 Lana Turner Make-Up and Beauty

To recreate Lana's look you should first apply a matt foundation and then apply some translucent powder to stop your skin from looking dull.

For the eyes, go for a subtle look. Apply a warm neutral shade heavily onto the lids. Try Prestige Eye Shadow, in Peach Whip.

Underneath the lower lash line apply some lemon eye shadow just lightly with a very fine brush or a cotton tip. This will freshen and open your eyes up instantly.

Lana is wearing very little, if any, eyeliner, leaving her eyes looking wide open. But although she has no dark liner, you might want to try out using a white eyeliner on your bottom lash line - a great trick for making your eyes pop.

Apply a black (or dark brown if you prefer) curling mascara such as Bourjois Volume Glamour Ultra Curl Mascara, which has a curved brush, said to help create a beautiful fan effect.

Apply a coral, or peachy color to the fleshiest parts of your cheeks for a natural, healthy glow, try using Avon True Colour Blush, in Coral Myth.

Now for the lips apply a red lipstick which has a touch of orange color; try Besame Enchanting Lipstick, in Carmine, which comes in gorgeous 1940s style packaging.

 Lana's Beauty Facts & Trivia

Lana once shaved all her eyebrows off for a movie role near the beginning of her career. Her brows never grew back properly and as a result she always had to have the drawn on.

She was a natural redhead but had to dyed her hair for an early movie and became a golden blonde.

It's said that once a fire broke out at Lana's apartment, forcing her to evacuate. With little time she grabbed only what she thought the essentials: lipstick, eyebrow pencil and a hairdryer.

Lana used Nivea cream after bathing.

Lana's favoured scents were said to be Mary Chess Tuberose, and L'Air du Temps.

Mary Chess Tuberose is a truly vintage scent, dating back to 1937 which has now been discontinued.  You can still buy it on various sites throughout the web though.

L'Air Du Temps By Nina Ricci was created in 1949 and is still available today.  The beautiful bottle was designed by Rene Lalique.
