Suiting Long Face
Shapes
|
 Features - Long faces
are quite a bit longer than they are broad, they are usually very
thin and have good bone structure. High, long cheekbones are a
common feature.
Famous
Longs - Sarah Jessica Parker,
Eva Green
Suits - Unlike most others,
long-shaped faces can get away with just about any fringe.
Things to Avoid - Letting your hair become
too long - it enhances rather than hides your face length.
See below for some hair styles
perfect for long face shapes
|

Best For - Round, Square
or Long faces
Avoid If - Your hair is
naturally curly or if you have an oval face shape
Seen - During Season 2 of
Gossip Girl
For this look save then print out
this pic to show your hairdressers, or ask for a haircut with a
slightly feathered eye-skimming fringe and two layers, one jaw
length and the longest, just below the shoulders.
To style, this requires a super
straight finish for Taylor's edgy look.
Apply a frizz-ease serum to damp
hair and then blow-dry with a paddle brush.
To finish, run some straighteners
over your hair.
Don't worry about trying to get
every hair into a perfect position, this style is better when it's a
little mussed up.

Color-
Dark, glossy brown.
Suits- Oval, or long faces.
Good For- Straight hair, or hair
with a loose curl, or wave.
Start with a long layered cut, with bangs
and long layers around the face.
If you have straight hair apply some styling mousse while it's
damp and use a hot air styling brush, such as Nicky Clarke's Hot Air Styling
Brush, to give it bounce, especially at the bottom.
If you have curly or wavy hair blow-dry
while its damp, with some straightening balm, before beginning the steps above.
Finish of the style with a liberal spray
of one of Elizabeth's hair favourites
L'Oreal Elnett hair spray.

At - The 2010 Teen Choice AwardsFor this up-do texture and volume at the back
is required. Leaving the front part of your hair and crown
completely straight set to back-combing some volume and height into
the back section of the crown.
A good trick for the back combing part is to
get a thin head band and slide it on, pushing the hair back to where
you want to start creating height from.
With the hair boosted, gather the hair at the
back and pin into a low loose bun, making sure not to ruin the
volume at the top.
There aren't many pictures of Heather at this
event so it's unclear whether her braid is an add-in or real but you
can get the look with the
Sephora Collection Thick Braidie Headband
($10.00 at amazon and available in five different colors), using it
to replace the head band if you decided to use one earlier in the
earlier step.
Pin the braid into place with two
criss-crossed hair pins on each side of the head, and finish with a
good mist of hairspray.

The Look - Ultra sleek ponytail
Apply some smoothing serum
on balm to the hair, from root to tip.
Blow-dry using a paddle brush to straighten
the hair. Point the hairdryer in a downwards direction to keep
the hair flat and smooth on the head, not sticking up.
Spray some heat protection spray only to the length
of the hair and run some straightening irons over for Heather's super sleek look.
If you've got bangs like Heather, or some
face-framing layers, sweep them to one side before gathering the
rest of the hair back into a ponytail, securing it with a band of
your choice.
Smooth down any little frizzes with hairspray,
gently dabbing them down with your fingers.

Girly girls have got to love the pink dipped
look that Nicki sported in late 2010.
If you fancy have a go at the dip-dye look; if
you're going Nicki's color, blonde or bleached hair is a must - you
won't be able to get such a vivid pink result with hair that's
darker.
A shade such as
Manic Panic's Cotton Candy Pink Hair Dye,
should give you this gorgeous look. You can pick how intense
you want the color by watering down the dye to suit yourself.

Color - Dark brownSuits - Most face shapes
In late 2009 Nicole went back to her natural
brunette color and at a signing for her
Winter Kate clothing range in February 2010 she rocked a fab wavy boho-chic
look.
Nicole's colorist, George Papanikolas, told In
Style that her new shade wasn't exactly an overnight impulse. "We have gradually
been going darker over the last few months—from blonde, to dark ash blonde, then
brown with golden tips and finally this rich sable brown."
For the cut print out this pic and take it to
your hairdresser or ask for a cut with long, soft layers and a full, feathered
fringed.
To style mist damp hair with some texturizing
spray, if you hair has natural waves this look should be pretty easy - just run
you fingers through, but if you have straight hair create the care-free waves
with a small curling iron and break up the curls with your fingers. Don't be too
precise or worry that some parts are wavier than others when creating your curls
- it's all the better for a natural look.
Finish with a spritz of hairspray.

Colour - Ice Blonde
Suits - Almost every face shape.
For this look ask your hairdresser to give
you a long eye skimming fringe and also a few layers around your face.
To style blow-dry your hair and sweep your
fringe to the side like Paris. Take one section of hair at a time and wrap it
around some medium, to large sized tongs, to leave some pretty curls.
Finish of the look with a spritz of
hairspray all over.

The Look - Fishtail Braid
Best For - Non-layered hair, lots of different
lengths in the hair can make this look a bit messy.
Papped out in late 2010, casual-looking Rihanna sported a
fishtail braid.
The fishtail style is probably the most complicated braid
if you've never done one before, so don't be put off if it doesn't turn out
right the first time - here's a few tips for getting the look.
Brush your hair through then gather it all in front of one
of your shoulders - it's easier for a right-hander to put it over the left
shoulder and vice-versa.
Divide the hair into two equal parts, hold one of the
sections between the middle and index finger, and the other between the middle
and ring finger of your less dominant hand.
Use your free hand for the braid creating. Take a
small section from the outside of the first part and place it in the section
held by your other fingers.
Now, pick up the same amount from the outside of the other
section and put it into the first (sounds complicated, right? If you check
out youtube you can find a few videos of people doing it - this still is much
easier to understand demonstrated than written out). Continue alternating
the strands from each section to the other until you're happy with the length of
the braid, then secure with a band of your choice.
