Take a look through the different styles to find one you like and see if it suits you, with everything from messy, dishevelled up-dos, to piled-high curls.

Browse the styles which are ordered by length required.

Color - Mid brown with some honey and dark blonde high lights

Suits - Most face shapes

Best For - Mid-Length hair and if you've got some help to pin up your curls

Begin by blow-drying damp or wet hair using a round brush to create some volume at the crown and roots.

Loosely tong the hair then pull it into a low ponytail at the back. Begin twisting hairs up and then pin or clip them into place. It's fine if this isn't the neatest hair style ever - Hayden's look was slightly messy but still ultra glam.

Finish with hairspray to keep everything in place.

Color- A dark brown base with a few lighter brown and coppery highlights.

Good For- Medium to Long hair

To get this look apply John Frieda Frizz Ease Serum, to towel dried hair then dry with a diffuser.

Section off your hair ear to ear and use a large curling iron to create a mass of tumbling ringlets around your face.

Twist the back section of hair into a tight tube and secure with a bobby pin. Tong the ends and finish by raking some wax through your hair to break up the curls, then randomly pin up some tendrils, leaving your hair a little loose for more of a romantic look.

Wavy Updo - Seen at the 2002 Oscars

Suits- Heart and Oval shaped face

Good for- Girls with naturally wavy hair

Color- Auburn

Styles like this shouldn't look too perfect so run some wax through your hair to give your curls a messy appearance.

Twist your hair up into a messy do leaving a few tendrils lying loose around your face. For Julia's look tuck your hair into a French plait and leave the ends loose.

Finally to get more defined curls around your face, like Julia's take one tendril at a time and coil the hair around your index finger, then to make sure the curls stay in place spray them lightly with some lacquer.

Amanda's Oscars hairstyle was created by John Frieda hairstylist Harry Josh.

Amanda's hair was washed with John Frieda Frizz-Ease Smooth Start Hydrating Shampoo and Conditioner as the frizz-fighting formula was essential for her sleek, silky look.

When her hair was damp,John Frieda Root Awakening Strength Restoring Gel was applied to the roots, then the hair was blow-dried.  Harry used a tail comb rather than a round brush to avoid lift and get the smoother look he was going for by combing Amanda's hair flat to the head as he dried.

Once dry, Sheer Blonde Style Crystal Clear Shape & Shimmer Hairspray was sprayed onto the hair section by section to hold the style.

An extreme, side part was created and Amanda's hair was pulled back into a ponytail at the back of the head, which was wrapped around and secured into a bun with some hair pins.  The ends of the ponytail were left sticking out in a slight fan shape.  This was a last minute decision made by Harry to reflect the pattern of Amanda’s earrings.

Suits - Square, long and oval shaped faces best

Color - Honey blonde base with lighter baby blonde highlights throughout and framing the face.

Best For - Thicker hair; fine hair may not hold the volume and height so well unless it's very dry or helped with a lot of hairspray.

Start with smooth, kink-free hair and section off the part at the front so you can work on the top to creating Jessica's beehive-like volume.

On the back section, backcomb the hair from the roots upwards using a fine toothed comb.

Once you have the volume gently smooth down the hair, gather at the back and pin it up with some hairpins or grips.

Smooth the front part of hair into your desired place and cover the whole style, especially the bun, with lots of hairspray to hold everything in place.

For this look begin with natural curls or waves; or create your own by blow-drying then using a 1-2 inch curling iron in alternating directions on your hair.

To style, create a deep side-part and sweep your hair across the front.

Tie your hair into a medium-low ponytail at the back but leave some sections loose at the side like Lea.

Twist the length of your hair up and into a loose bun around the base of the ponytail and pin into place - if a few pieces sprig out that's okay, this isn't meant to be a pristine look.

Now style your loose section with your fingers, and if you feel you need to, use the curling irons to create so extra waves.

Finish with a mist of strong-hold hairspray to secure.

The Look - Simply Elegant Up-Do

Seen at - The 2011 Golden Globe Awards

Mara Roszak styled Emma's hair for the Golden Globes and began by applying Tresemme Fresh Start No-Frizz Cream to her damp hair.

Next step; Emma's hair was blow-dried using a round brush, sweeping it away from the face.

Mara then teased the hair, smoothing it with a comb, and placing it into a mid-height ponytail.

The ponytail was divided into two, with each half twisted around each other. The hair was then wrapped into a bun and pinned to secure.

Taylor has naturally curly hair which is often brought out with the help of  a diffuser.

Despite her natural curls, this look still looks like it has some extra refinement added with the help of some small-barrel curling irons.

Oils work great on naturally curly hair, use your fingers to rake a product like MoroccanOil Glimmer Spray through the hair and break up the curls a little while adding gorgeous shine.

The hair was gathered back and secured with pins and hairspray before the addition of her beautiful flower accessory.

Start with smooth hair, especially at the roots - preferably blow-dried but it's not too important.

Use a small-medium sized curling iron to create some random curls, taking them up to about ear height.

Make a centre parting and pull your hair back (leaving a little loose at the front like Amy's) into a high ponytail, securing it with a discreet elastic band.

Now take your curls and pink them loosely up and around the base of the ponytail.  Don't worry about pinning the ends into place - if you look at Amy's pic, some of hers have been left loose.

Once your happy with how the curls feel - and you may want to ask someone else how it looks as it can be awkward to see yourself - finish with some hairspray to pat down any fly-aways and keep everything in place.

For this up-do texture and volume at the back is required.  Leaving the front part of your hair and crown completely straight set to back-combing some volume and height into the back section of the crown.

A good trick for the back combing part is to get a thin head band and slide it on, pushing the hair back to where you want to start creating height from.

With the hair boosted, gather the hair at the back and pin into a low loose bun, making sure not to ruin the volume at the top.

There aren't many pictures of Heather at this event so it's unclear whether her braid is an add-in or real but you can get the look with the Sephora Collection Thick Braidie Headband ($10.00 at amazon and available in five different colors), using it to replace the head band if you decided to use one earlier in the earlier step.

Pin the braid into place with two criss-crossed hair pins on each side of the head, and finish with a good mist of hairspray.

The Look - Intricately braided Up-do

Seen At - The Chanel HC Fashion Show held in Paris, January 2011

Needs - Someone to help you; and hair that isn't too long

For this look no blow-dry or straightening should be necessary as the hair is getting put into a style anyway.

Diane's hair has a very slight part just above her left eyebrow with the rest of her hair all swept back.

She has two braids on either side of her head (creating these is where you'll probably require some help), each working down to her neck.

The loose ends are pinned up at the back to leave the nape of the neck bare.  If your hair length is to long for a neatly pinned-up look, try gathering it together to make a neat little bun.

Finish with a lot of hairspray.  Diane has some loose frizzy parts but if you'd prefer a sleeker look, use the hairspray to help dab any fly-aways down with your fingertips.

At the National TV Awards in January 2010 Cheryl wore up her cute cut in a glam up-do.

Best For - Mid-length or layered hair to give the perfect length of loose curls at the front.

Color - Dark Brown

To get the look tong your hair all the way around, doing it by about one-inch sections at a time.

Now take your curls (leaving a few loose at the front) and use hairpins to grip them up into a bun. This is a glam look but not too precise or fussy, it's okay if a few parts are a little messy or loose as the bun doesn't need to be really neat.

Finish with a good spritz of hairspray.

For this look brush all hair back into a high ponytail at the back of the head; using some spray, gel or balm - whichever you prefer - to smooth down any frizzes on the scalp, ensuring a perfectly smooth look.

Wrap your hair up into a tight bun at the back of your head, securing with pins.

If you have long hair you might have enough to create Gwen's full look on your own but an easier way to get the look - for all hair lengths - is to use a hair add-in - hairdo.'s straight ponytail wrap will work great.

Secure it at the top of your bun then wrap it covering the outside of your own bun, creating Gwen's glam look.

This will also need to be pinned into place and you can also see Gwen has used a net over her bun to prevent any hairs from coming loose.

Finish with a mist of strong-hold hairspray.

Wrap your hair up into a tight bun at the back of your head, securing with pins - this will give you a ballet-style look but LeAnn's has a little something extra.

Get a hair add-in - hairdo.'s ponytail wraps will work great, and they come in a range of 10 colors so there should be one to suit you.  Secure it at the top of your bun then wrap it around to cover the outside of your own bun, creating a fuller and more glamorous look.

Again, secure the wrap in place with hair pins; then complete the whole look with a good burst of hairspray.

For this look it's better to start with hair that isn't freshly-washed, so it's great style to try if your hairs a little greasy rather than just putting it into a pony.

Needs - Long hair, unless following version 2.

Create your centre parting, and pull your hair back, leaving some optional face-framing tendrils at the front.

Collect the hair at the back into a ponytail, slightly to one side of the nape, and plait it into a loose braid, securing at the end with a transparent band.

With the braid complete, wrap it up over the head, pinning into the scalp with bobby pins as you go.

Version 2 - Buy a thick braided headband, such as the Sephora Collection Thick Braided Headband, and pin it to you head the same way as you'd pin up a real one, putting your own hair into a bun at the back.

Creating her glam up-do, Jessica was styled by Renato Campora.  He began by applying  Fekkai Advanced Full Blown Volume Styling Whip throughout Jessica's hair while still wet.

He then blow-dried with a round brush.

Once dry, Renato pulled Jessica's hair back into a ponytail at the crown of the head then rolled it around before securing in place with bobby pins.

One piece of hair was then wrapped around the bottom of the rolled ponytail to add sophistication to the style.

Next, he added a real touch of glam with the addition of a vintage Ralph Lauren necklace acting as a hair jewel.

A few pieces were left loose at the front to frame Jessica's face (tong these with large curling irons for a touch of romantic curl) and the look was finished with a spritz of Fekkai Coiff Sheer Hold Hairspray.

Attending the Style Awards in December 2010, Kate wore her hair in the very simple but very pretty hairdo.

When creating a bun it's usually easier for hair that isn't super clean so if you've got straight hair there shouldn't be any need to wash first.

If your hair is curly or wavy though, Kate's look needs a smooth, kink-free base, so blow-dry using a flat brush if you feel you need to, then apply a small amount of gel to help you style.

Brush your hair through and gather it back into a ponytail, securing with a discreet elastic, making sure there are no bumps or parts forming at the top or sides of your head.

Twist your ponytail then loop it up once before wrapping the rest of the length around the loop and the base of the ponytail, tucking the loose end under or into the loop, depending on where it ends.

If wrapped tightly enough, the bun can hold itself but if you want to feel secure and safe for the night use a few hair pins to help keep everything in place.

Finish with some smoothing balm or gel to get rid of any frizzy or flyaway hairs.

Begin by applying some styling lotion to your hair while it's damp.

Use a paddle brush and blow-dry your hair straight with each stroke.

Once dry, create a part down the middle; then pull all your hair together as though your creating a loose, low ponytail - don't tie it though, instead, sweep the length high up to the back of your head and twist until the hair forms a loose bun.

Pin the bun loosely, don't make it too tight.

For a glam touch use a curling iron on any tendrils you've left loose around your face.

Finish with a spritz of finishing spray to lock in your style.

Freida's gorgeous Oscars up-do was created by stylist Jeffrey Paul.

Starting with blow-dried hair, he divided Freida's hair into three sections - a left side part, three quarters of hair in one section on the right and the remaining hair into two smaller sections.

The right section was pulled back into a low ponytail just behind the right ear above the nape of the neck.

Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip was worked into the ponytail and it was twisted and wrapped around the base, being secured with pins.

A little more Aveda Light Elements Defining Whip was applied to the remaining sections before they were twist back, around the bun too, creating a layered rose-like look.

Aveda Air Control Hair Spray was then spritzed over the style to finish.

Anna was styled by Frederic Fekkai hairdresser Renato Campora for TV's glitziest award show.

To her wet hair he applied Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip to the roots as well as some Frederic Fekkai Coiff Perfecteur Anti-Frizz Silkening Creme.

Renato blow-dried, not with a brush but with his fingers.

Once completely dry, he used a ½ inch curling iron and set the hair into pin curls.

After 15 minutes to set and cool, the pin curls were removed and Renato ran his fingers through the hair to loosen and create shape.

Next, the hair was pulled back into a high French twist, revealing the nape of her neck, and it was secured with bobby pins.

For volume, the hair at the crown of her head was loosened instead of being slick and sleek, resulting in a softer, yet more glamorous style.

For the waved look at the crown, Anna had a very subtle band, go for it or use a ribbon or head band of your own color choice.  If opting for a ribbon, help keep it in place using two hair pins in an cross shape connecting it to the head at the nape of the neck or behind your ears.

Finish with some hairspray; Anna's look was completed with Fekkai Advanced Sheer Hold Hairspray.

For her edgy-glam awards look, Dianna had her hair styled by Frederic Fekkai stylist Adir Abergel.

While her hair was dry he applied Frederic Fekkai Coiff Strong Hold Hairspray to Dianna's roots and Smoothing Finishing Serum to the ends.  He then blow-dried with his hands to add volume and some natural-looking texture.

Using a 1 1/4 inch curling iron he curled her hair into pin-curls around the hairline and the crown of the head.

After leaving the curls to set, the pins were removed and the curls were backcombed, giving Dianna lots of body at the top.

Leaving the top loose, Dianna's hair was then pulled into a chignon at the back of her head.

Adir then used some Sheer Hold Hairspray to give the style hold, and a little Fekkai Coiff Nonchalant Piecing & Forming Wax was used at the ends for some separation and texture.

For this funky up-do look, first apply some styling cream onto freshly-washed and towel-dried hair.

Blow-dry straight with a large round brush, creating just a little volume at the roots.

Once dry, create a side parting above the arch of the eyebrow on the side of your choice.

Section off the hair that you want to curl up at the top of your head, then gather the rest at the back to create a tight French roll, securing it with bobby pins.

Unclip the sectioned off part of hair and now pin it up into a shape like Paris's, using your fingers as a guide, and using a few more bobby pins to keep this part in place.

Complete the look with a good blast of hairspray, using it not only for hold but also to dab down any fly-away or frizzy hairs.

Anne was styled by Pantene hairstylist Danilo for the event.

Anne's hair was prepped with heat protection spray, and some body-building mousse to add volume at the roots before being blow-dried.

The hair was then tonged into curls.

A deep side-part was created and the hair swept into a loose, knotted chignon at the back with any loose hairs looped neatly into the centre and pinned into place.

In the centre of the chignon a glitzy finishing touch was place.  But Anne's was no jewelled hair pin, though, but a vintage brooch from Cartier.

For this look, begin by spraying the hair with a volumising spray, such as John Frieda Luxurious Volume Lavish Lift Root Booster, section by section.  Make sure to spray the roots for a really full, volumous look at the top.

Blow-dry with a round brush to add some body and movement.

Mist some heat styling spray over the hair - spraying one section at a time before using a  large-barrel curling iron to add lift and curl to the whole head.

Once complete, brush out the curls to keep the style looking natural but still leaving the full-body effect.

For this style it isn't essential to have super smooth hair, it looks good with waves an texture too; but if you have natural curls and want Nicky's total look, first apply some silkening balm and blow-dry your hair straight with a paddle brush.

Create a centre parting and gather your hair at the back, dividing into two equally sized low ponytail sections, one behind each ear.

Plait each ponytail and pin them up and into the scalp, over the top of your head like Nicky.

The tricky part is getting the ends of each to look like the merge together - it's best to use hair pins that closely match your hair shade for this, placing them in a criss-cross shape over the ends.

Use hairspray lacquer to help and shine and keep the style in place.  You can also use it to help dab down any frizzy or stick-out hairs.

Shorter haired girls can cheat their way to this style with the help of a Sephora Collection Thick Braid Headband.

Using a 1-inch curling iron he curled all Jennifer's hair (this probably isn't necessary as most is going up - the loose curls at the front are all you're likely to need).

Amy’s Golden Globes look was created by Laini Reeves who first washed it with Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner which helped to make her naturally thick hair smoother and frizz-free.

MoroccanOil Hydrating Styling Cream was then applied as her hair dried.

To create texture her hair was rough-dried by hand.  It was all air-dried except for the roots which were blow-dried.

Next, a one-inch curling iron was used to make curls in different parts of the hair that needed to be filled in.

A side part was created then Laini prepared some pieces from the front of the hair to frame Amy's face, using some pins to hold them away from the hair and in a waved “S”-shape - you'll remove these later.

The rest of the hair was gathered and pulled back where is made a loose braid that was doubled up and rolled up to be pinned at the nape of the neck, with the cross texture side of the braid showing. Only five thick bobby pins were used on Amy to secure the style in place but you should definitely use a few more if you feel you need to - you don't want to be worrying it might come loose.

The “S”-shaped sections that were created earlier were removed to leave Amy's romantic falling curls, and, as a final touch, the style was sprayed with MoroccanOil Luminous Hair Spray.

Begin creating a very slight side-parting - Camilla's hair is so thick, you barely see hers - and back-comb the different sections of the hair to add some volume and height. You want a lot especially at the crown and in the front.

Using a natural bristle brush, smooth your hair as you gather it all into a ponytail at the back.

Now for the tricky part; holding the ponytail in one hand, hold your other hand above it and twist the ponytail around the width of two of your fingers to create a loop.

Continue with the loop until there is no hair left to twist around your fingers and you should be left with something similar to a French twist at the back of your head.  Secure this in place with a some pins or a large clip just below the top of the loop your ponytail creates.

When your happy that everything at the back is secure, work the loop into a wider shape.

Finish with a lot of strong hold hairspray and pat down any loose flyaway or frizzy hairs at the sides.

For this look you might want to begin by applying a little volumiser to damp hair then blow-drying it upside down to add some height and lift at the roots, but it's not essential.

Gather all your hair up into a high ponytail at the back of the head (again, like with the blow-drying, your might find this easier to do with your head upside down).

Loop the length of the ponytail up above the band then wrap it around the base with the loose end tucked under the wrapped part.  This is basically how you create a ballet bun too but the difference with Jessica's style is it's loosely wrapped for a fuller look, rather than a ballet bun which is tightly wrapped for a neater look.

Use a few pins and a mist of hairspray to keep the bun secure.

If you have any short length tendrils, that didn't make it into the ponytail, left at the front, use a medium sized curling iron to give them a romantic look and polished finish.

Here's a how-to guide for Victoria's low-maintenance up-do look from the December 2010 Hollywood Style Awards -

Apply some styling lotion - one such as Got 2B's Guardian Angel Blow-Out Lotion will help give a shiny finish - to your hair while it's damp.

For this up-do that Kim wore to a premiere in 2009, first apply some styling cream onto freshly-washed and towel-dried hair.

Blow-dry straight with a large round brush, creating just a little volume at the roots.

Once dry, create a deep parting, sweeping the hair across to the other side of your head, where you'll need to section off the hair you want to curl up.

Gather the rest at the back to create a tight French roll, securing it with bobby pins.

Unclip the sectioned off part of hair and now roll it up into a shape like Kim's, using your fingers as a guide, and using a few more bobby pins to keep this part in place.

Complete the look with a good blast of hairspray, using it not only for hold but also to dab down any fly-away or frizzy hairs, especially on the sides.

For this look apply some volumising mousse to her wet hair and some texturising spray at the back section.

Blow-dry, using a round brush to boost height and straighten out the front section before bouncing it out slightly at the ends.

Once completely dry, part the hair slightly off centre leaving the front completely straight before brushing the rest back and back-combing it to achieve height, spraying with hairspray as you go.

Once you feel you have enough height, gather the hair at the back into a simple bun or chignon, pinning it into place and securing with another burst of hairspray.

Best For - Hair with natural waves or curls

Miley's 2010 Oscars look was ultra glam but not quite as hard to create as you might think.

Start by applying some volumizing mousse to your hair while it's wet, then blow-dry using a large round brush to create Miley's volumized look.

Concentrate mainly on the roots and top of your head while blow-drying; if you leave the ends to dry naturally it won't matter too much.

Once your hair is try gather it into a ponytail high at the back of the head - don't pull it too tight, you need to leave the top loose and not sitting tight to your head.

Twist the length of the ponytail up and around the base of it, securing with some hair pins as you go.

Don't worry about getting the bun perfect and neat- Miley's isn't - she even left the ends of her ponytail loose and not tucked in.

Finish the look with a lot of hairspray to make sure the style holds.

For Kourtney's fab, sleek bun look totally clean hair isn't necessary - in fact, hair that is just a little bit greasy holds this kind of style better and has less frizzy and sticking up hairs.

Getting the versatile style, first brush all your hair back into a high ponytail at the back of the head, securing with a hair elastic.

Now, creating the bun, you can use two methods -

Go traditional, twisting the length of your ponytail around the elastic, tucking the end into the centre of the bun, and securing with hair pins.

Or, you can use a Hair Bun Sponge which you wrap up the length of your ponytail and twist into the round bun shape at the top.

Hair Bun Sponges ($3.82 at amazon.com) don't look very glamorous or special but you can use them to create a number of styles, and an in-built wire helps them keep whichever shape you mould them into.

Begin with freshly washed hair and spray on some texturizing spray to the roots before blow-drying.

Once dry backcomb the section of hair that is at the front of your hair to get Nina's volume.  Leave the sides as they should just be smooth.

Gently gather the hair into a high ponytail at the back of the head, smoothing the sides as you go.

It's hard to find a good back picture of Nina's gorgeous 'do, but it looks like she had some of the length wrapped around the base of the ponytail then looped the rest up and around the bun it formed.

Pin the bun securely with some hairpins close to your own color then finish with a mist of hairspray.

For this style, start by pulling your hair up into a high ponytail (make sure the hair on top of the head is still loose and not totally tight) and secure with a hair elastic.

Tease the hair in the ponytail to add lots of volume and texture, spraying it lightly with hairspray as you go.

Wrap the hair into a loose bun securing with bobby pins.  If you still don't have the same bulk as Kim you can cheat and wrap your hair around a sponge (it's possible Kim is wearing one anyway).

Use a strong-hold finishing spray at the end to make sure the style lasts all night.

Kim's hair is a little static and frizzy-looking at the back of the bun, this is a common effect of back-combing or teasing but you can use a touch of hairspray to smooth and pat it down.

Wrap the hair into a loose bun securing with bobby pins as you go.  Don't worry about trying to get every hair is exactly in place, this style shouldn't be too tight or pristine.

Use a strong-hold finishing spray at the end to make sure the style lasts all night.

For this style, it's best to apply a gloss-enhancing serum to wet hair then blow-dry it smooth and straight, using a paddle brush rather than a round one.

Once dry, you'll need to section the hair into two, one section should go across the head from right to left, and the other just behind it from left to right - use so pins in a color close to your hair to help hold these in place at the back.

That tricky part taken care of, gather all your hair at the back and tie it up into a high ponytail at the back.  Be careful not to pull it too tight or you might create some bumps at the top.

Use some curling irons to curl the hair in the ponytail, taking the hair in large sections of about 2 to 3 inches at a time.

With all the hair in the ponytail curled, take the curls and pin them up variously around the base of the ponytail for Tulisa's glam up-do look.

Finish this style with a serious dose of strong-hold hairspray for all-night hold.

Looking at Nina's roots in this style, it looks like she gave her hair a break from the constant straightening and let her natural waves give this look some added texture.

If you've got straight hair, start by applying some texturizing spray to your hair while it's damp.

Brush your hair back and slide on an Alice band of your choice - Nina went for a simple black one to blend in with her hair.  The band some smooth down the front, and push the hair back to create some volume behind it.

Gather the hair into a high ponytail at the back of the head, not pulling too tight so as to leave the volume behind the band still there.

Now for the glam curls, if you don't have natural curls, use a medium-size curling iron to add some ringlets to the length of your ponytail, then take those newly-created curls and pin them up randomly, looping some over and using hair pins that closely match your natural hair color to secure them.

Finish with a touch of smoothing balm to take care of any frizzy hairs on the top or side of your hair and complete the style with a good amount of hairspray to hold everything in place.

To create this look apply some smoothing balm and blow-dry (not totally necessary if your hair is straight).

Divide your hair at the back, leaving the upper section loose to add oomph like Paris, while gathering the rest up into a neat bun - pinning it into place.

Get the section of hair at the top and backcomb it for volume.  You might find a hairdo filler very useful when creating this.

Once your happy with the style so far get some hairspray, such as L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray, and use it to dab down any frizzy hairs.

Your finishing touch - Paris's sweet braid - again calls for a little help.

Take a Sephora Braided Headband (available in three different shades) and pin it around your volumized bun - or secure into your hair filler if you used one.
